Week 14 is the last week for our class. So for our tutorial class on Thursday, we are going to present our AR and video project to our beloved lecturer Dr. Fariza. I am so excited waiting for this week but at the same time, I am waiting for examination day I am grateful during this journey for this course I had always my friends beside me to help me with study and completed our project.
For this week's lecture, we did not learn any new topic but Dr.Hazrati is doing a revision for all the previous topics that we have learned and she also gives tips to answer the question during the final examination. I hope that I and my classmates will get grade A for this subject with the full effort that I have given towards this course. Maybe there are some topics that I might don’t like but the skill that I have learned in innovative technology in education and the skill of using the apps, Weebly, Blippar and many more are useful for my daily life. Thank you towards my lecturer Dr. Fariza. Also thank you to my friends Ayuni, Syahmina and Khir for helping me in the study and in finishing our project.
In week 13 I learn about Web 2.0 tools and applications in education. Dr. Hazrati explains about the evolving of Web 2.0 in the education industry. As we all know technology is getting popular in making teaching and learning easier and effective ways to learn. It is advantages for teachers and students because they can create, collaborate, edit and share content on-line that is user-generated. These web 2.0 make it presentation research and much more activity in the classroom and the process of learning easier and fun. I found that teachers nowadays must take note and concerned about the changes in technology. New tools are being developed all the time, so it is important to be informed about the newest trends in education to keep up with the technology that surrounds the lives of our future students. In the previous lecture, we learn about the process of design analysis & media development strategies. In every technology that was created and developed, there will be always weakness and deficiencies in how they functioning. The disadvantages of web 2. After their existence, PowerPoint is no longer used by a teacher. Now Prezi is used so often that some students are bored with it. Besides, most of these tools require each student to create an account. When students create accounts, the website stores take their information and their privacy might be leaked and unsafety for the students. Last but not least maybe some websites allow for educational accounts with no or limited information gathering but most of the Web 2.0 tools do not have. Using technology in the classroom can have many benefits for us to help in our teaching goals and increasing the learning capabilities of students. Web 2.0 tools are becoming handier in the classroom but can seem hard for teachers who are not confident in their technological ability. I found that the teacher should not be worried about the hardship to create materials using technology because web 2.0 has many websites and apps that can give guidelines and create my teaching material easily.
In week 12 the lecture that I learned is about the process of design analysis & media development strategies presented by Dr. Rosseni Din. Media development planning for the teaching and learning process includes design, development, testing, evaluation such as summative and formative. Media can be a component of active learning strategies such as group discussions or case studies. Media could be a film clip, a song you hear on the radio, podcast of a lecture or newspaper article. Students can also create their media. For example, student video projects can be a powerful learning experience.
The reason why we need to learn the media development planning and design analysis because the use of media to enhance teaching and learning complements traditional approaches to learning. Traditional where the teacher only teaching using chalkboard and using the book as exercise. Using media engages students, aids student retention of knowledge, motivates interest in the subject matter, and illustrates the relevance of many concepts. Teaching methods combining Media should be used the balance in the learning process. Media can be used to motivate discussions or attract student attention in concepts. In this day and age, the dramatic growth of social media creates new opportunities for engaging students. These include social networking sites such as Facebook, WhatsApp, telegram LinkedIn, and Twitter along with blogs and wikis. Besides that, the design of learning to create meaningful learning should include the following process active by manipulation and observation, constructive by articulation and reflective, and authenticity with the objective.
For this week's tutorial class my lecturer Dr, Fariza Khalid teach us about a new skill. How to use Blippar, Biteable, and yout to make it our AR project easier. I do love to learn a new skill in this class. The most interesting is how to use yout. Yout makes my day easier to download directly using the linked video at youtube that we watch then we just delete ube. For example, choose a link to the video that I wanted to download = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Bh-fM07D1o. Next, delete the ube (https://www.yout.com/watch?v=-Bh-fM07D1o) The link will send you directly to download the website the video that you just watch. That is all for today. Thank you.
In week 11, the lecture is about TPACK. I don’t really know about the meaning of TPACK and I had never heard about this name before. But in my guess, I think it is about a new technology of types of software. I learn that TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. TPACK is used in the classroom where the teachers need to use teaching and technology. TPACK is the Theory that was developed to explain the set of knowledge that teachers need to teach their students a subject, teach effectively, and use technology.
According to the TPACK framework, specific technological tools (hardware, software, applications, associated information literacy practices, and many more are best used to instruct and guide students toward a better understanding of the subject matter. there are three main components of teachers’ knowledge: content, pedagogy, and technology. The important model is the interactions between and among these bodies of knowledge, represented as PCK, TCK (technological content knowledge), TPK (technological pedagogical knowledge), and TPACK. TPACK able to describes teachers’ understanding of how particular technologies can change both the teaching and learning experiences by introducing new pedagogical.
The teacher needs to used TPACK as a whole lesson. Throughout the lesson in the classroom teacher needs to balance, the usage of technology (T) and also pedagogy (P) to help the students understand the (C ) which is the content of the lesson.
The reason educational technology can be used because the students’ had already existing knowledge about technology, and teachers will helping them either strengthen previous knowledge or develop new ones.
Nowadays we are living in worlds full of gadgets and development of technology that are high tech. As a future teacher, we need to learn and understand this because of TPACK because our world is becoming more and more technologically advanced. Students are used to having technology in their daily lives. For this reason, it would be unwise for a teacher to completely ignore technology or leave it out of the classroom. Technology is becoming an important aspect of classroom learning. I found that TPACK is very easy to use for every subject. Lastly. In my point of view, TPACK not only helping students in the process learning but also allows a teacher to create and develop their creativity in the teaching methods.
In week 10, I learn about learning theories. There are many types of learning theories in education. There are behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, design/brain-based, humanism and 21st Century skills. The reason we need to learn learning theories is It helps a teacher how to solve the learning problems of a student. Every student is different and has their uniqueness of learning styles. This learning theory enables a teacher to know the problems of individual differences and how to approach them with different teaching methods.
Learning theories describe how students absorb and gained knowledge during the learning process. Cognitive, emotional, and environmental influences learning process is important for students to build their understanding and vision. Behaviorism is a view in which behavior can be explained by external factors and behavioral conditioning. In behaviorism, the ideas of positive and negative reinforcement are effective tools of learning and behavior modification, as well as a punishment and reward system.
Next is Cognitivism is a learning theory developed by Jean Piaget in which a child develops cognitive pathways in understanding and physical response to experiences. In this theory, students learn most effectively through reading text and lecture instruction. Also, Constructivism is the idea that people are responsible for creating their understanding of the world and using what they know based on previous knowledge or experiences in the process of linking new information to these experiences. People use these experiences and new information to construct their meaning. Last but not least, Connectivism is a relatively new learning theory, developed and based upon the idea that people process information by forming connections. This theory has developed with the digital and technology age, adapting to advances in these areas. This new theory suggests that people no longer stop learning after formal education and continue to gain knowledge from other avenues such as job skills, networking, experience and access to information with new tools in technology.
The advantages of learning theories in my opinion as a future teacher we are responsible to be aware of the growth and development of the students. It is important for the teacher needs to learn to use various methods of teaching techniques. Learning theories helps the teacher to know how learning takes place. It enables a teacher how the learning process should be initiated, how to motivate, how to memorize or learn. It helps teachers to guide the students in the right direction to enhanced student’s abilities in the right direction.
In conclusion, learning theories is important for us to learn about how to understand our students learning style and helps a teacher that how to evaluate students that whether the purpose of teaching & learning has been achieved.
In week 8, I learn about Cipher. I thought cipher is the same as a cheat code that we can use to be a shortcut on our computer. Some of the Cipher types are easy to master but mostly the Cipher algorithm is a bit complicated for me to do it unless if I will be always to practice using it on my own and it will make me remembered the step to do the code. Cipher is a method of hiding words or text with encryption by replacing original letters with other letters, numbers, and symbols through substitution or transposition. A combination of substitution and transposition is also often employed. Cipher also refers to the encrypted text, cryptography system or encryption key for the original text. The encrypted text is also known as cipher text. The plaintext is the original, unencrypted text. There are many types of a cipher.
Every type of cipher has its uniqueness and advantages. The text is very interesting to learn. Even though understanding the code changing step is a little bit confusing but the secret code might be useful in the future to protect our secret. Ciphers are used to provide encryption, authentication, and data integrity checks in file transfer protocols like FTPS, SFTP, and WEBDAVS as well as in data-at-rest systems like OpenPGP. Encryption algorithms are usually classified into three groups first used in symmetric encryption, used in asymmetric encryption, and used in cryptographic hash functions.
I found that there are many advantages of the cipher is the information you have stored on your smartphone or computer, and you can probably understand why encryption keeps your identity secure along with your data. On a smartphone, for example, encryption apps can make it virtually impossible, or at least exceptionally challenging, for any unauthorized person to access your information. It provides us safety security and trusts to keep on using our gadgets.
In this week 7, My lecturer Dr. Fariza Khalid teach us about Augmented reality (AR). First thing first actually I do not care about augmented reality and I think this will be the hardest task in this subject. But during this lecture, I was amazed by the application of using augmented reality in education. In my opinion, it will not only attract a younger student to learn but an adult student also will be willing to learn and participated in learning and creating this amazing technology. I always thought this is the same kind of hologram that we always have seen in the Hollywood movie. Augmented reality is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory. The benefits that we can get form this AR augmented reality is that it introduces a new way for computer-mediated human interaction. Instead of calling one another or sending text messages via WhatsApp, AR makes communication more interactive. I also found that social networking sites such as Instagram and Snapchat have used AR to make sharing videos and photos more visually appealing and fun. Also, AR allows product creators to see and experience the design of a product before its completion. Retailers can also benefit from AR. For example, clothing retailers using AR can allow their customers to try on various clothes or accessories, without changing their clothes they can only creating a visual dressing room. The same is true in furniture retail like an IKEA also use AR that can overlay a piece of furnishing in a real home or office space to help a consumer to choose suitable furniture or not to decide if he or she wants to buy the product or not. Besides that in the game industry it provides enables more interactive and richer human-to-computer. AR simply provides additional input-output features to video games and making the gameplay more immersive and interactive. Augmented reality allows video game players to experience digital gameplay in a real-world environment because of the technology mixes the virtual world of games with the natural world. The gaming world becomes a more realistic gaming experience. In conclusion, AR benefited and give impact to a lot of educators, business world and gamers.
Today I learn about gamification. Gamification is a new word for me. Generally, we only heard about games that we always played on our gadgets. Gamification is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. It is also a set of activities and processes to solve problems by using or applying the characteristics of game elements. Besides, it has a positive impact on education for the learning process. The elements that I learn that must have in gamification elements are the points, badges, leaderboards and performances graph. All of this element can be used to check on student's understanding and they will compete with other students to get the correct answer. This gamification used through the learning process helps a student to understand, focus and have fun but at the same time they are also learning and get to knows their performance ranking. The points and badges give a compliment to a student that gets good performances and these things able to make the other student more encourage and focus while learning in the classroom.
For tutorial class for this week, I learn about image authenticity. It is wrong to use a picture that has copyrights without their permission. Just in case if we want to use that picture we need to put credit on our blog or anywhere that we wanted to post. We also can check on google if the picture has copyrights and we are advised to filter ous search engine on google to use no copyrights picture because to prevent from getting sue and accused as a copycat. Next, we get to learn to put the sidebar in the Weebly layouts. In the sidebar, we learn how to put a word that is a link to another page or website. I also learn new information shared that if we wanted to research school data we can use IRAS as a place to collect our data directly from KPM. Other than that, I learn about how to embed with Html on our Weebly websites. It is very easy to embed because and if the viewers visited our blog, don’t have to go to another website they can just look the content directly on our web.
My point of view about media is television, handphone, and social media. Media is a medium that conventional and contemporary. It is one mode and a platform for delivery or presentation. That is also a presentation that including many elements such as text, audio, graphic video, animation, image and interactive. I also learn about the different between graphic video and animation. video is a video that uses real things examples like a real human and real scenery. The animation is not real such as cartoons 2D and 3D. Animation can be created by using any apps such as powtoon, animaker, moovily, videosribed and many more. Dr. also explained the method of how to shoot a video for our next project. There four motion of cameras that we can apply in our video. This knowledge can will be always to use as our project but I believe as a future teacher that will teach a student that is intelligent in using gadgets we also can use this to prepare as our teaching material
In week 5, I learn about the elements of multimedia. Dr. Hazrati explains how to use the elements of multimedia when we are going to create a video or augmented reality project. All of these elements and things that I learn about multimedia are not only cna be used to complete my assignments besides that I can practices it in the future to attract student attention. The advantages of multimedia are not only for teachers but also give an impact on a student. Multimedia enhances student's brain's ability to make connections between verbal and visual representations of content, leading to a deeper understanding, which helps in learning to other situations. All of this is important in today’s 21st-century classrooms, nowadays school teachers are preparing students for a future where higher-level thinking, problem-solving and collaborative skills will be required. In my real life, I can see the famous Instagram, poster, and advertisement is popular and easy to remember because of their strategies in how using colors alignment all the elements.
This week for my tutorial class, we are doing an online task we need to create our curriculum vitae (CV) by using a graphic design tool website. The online task makes me desperate to research the difference between cv and resume. The different is resume is a description of our career, work experiences, our proficiency so that the employer knows what skill can we bring to the company. The curriculum vitae consists of information about our educational background such as achievements, projects, publication. Additionally covers any recognition & awards we received throughout our career. During doing this cv I realized that the only I can put in my cv is my work experience as a junior teacher in school and tutor for primary school. There are zero in my achievement this makes me realized that achievement is important for my future if I wanted to get a job that I want I need to make the employer interesting in reading my cv. This task urged me to start thinking about how to get the achievement to put in my cv.
The lecture for today was about M-Learning and E-Learning. Dr.Khalid explain about the advantages and disadvatanges of E and M learning. This learning methods give Impact in education because it make teaching more easier and student can enjoy while learning. The disadvantages of this learning are the lack of equipment and costly. Many of the school might not be able to cater all the student with the availability of the computer at their school.
In my first class tutorial with Dr. Fariza Khalid, I learn about the two types of reflection. There is a reflection that I can use it in my future assignment and essay. Also, I Learn about Weebly pages. It has two types of pages. The first pages are standard pages and the second one is a blog page. The difference between standard pages is timeless content and blog page they have published date and displayed in reverse date. I love the way Dr.Fariza teach us because she also presented in a slide presentation and after that, in the same time, she asks us to explore and do it the standard page and blog page in the classroom so if we are no able to do it she will correct it on the spot. Because it is our first time to explore Weebly and I clearly can see the difference between those pages. I think in the future I can use it the blended learning method teaching for my future student. I will give a lecture first and then I let my students explore alone and eventually they will learn from their own mistakes and we as a teacher need to guide them if they are wrong. If we answered our students in the process learning they will not focus either will not learn from their mistakes because all the answers we're given straight to them. I am not a creative person so this eportfolio project is a challenge for me to be a creative person. I do love to explore new things. Weebly pages are interesting because of its simple drag-and-drop to create our design such as audio player, slideshow and youtube video. The templates are also easy to understand and beautiful.
